About me stepping down...

Guillaume Lelarge-3
Hello,

I won't stand for reelection. I've been on the board for something like 10 years, as co-treasurer for 2 years (with Jean-Paul Argudo as treasurer), and another 8 years as treasurer (if memory helps). It's time for new people to come in.

You may not know this but, if you're interested, you don't apply for a specific role. You apply to be on the board. The first meeting of the board will be to assign roles to all members of the board, though roles didn't change a lot lately. You may end up president, or secretary, or treasurer, or vice-something. Once on the board, the work to do is mostly administrative, dealing with companies such as banks, insurance, suppliers (for goodies for example), sponsors, venues, etc, making sure contracts are good enough, paying suppliers, dealing with the accountants, bank managers, insurance people. It's also making sure PostgreSQL European events will take place. Obviously PGConf.EU, and the PGDay before FOSDEM, but also PGConf.DE, PGDay Paris, Nordic PGDay. And then, there are a few more things to do, such as preparing and handling the yearly elections, and the General Assembly.

Though this may sound boring (and to be fully honest, it is from time to time), I had a great time working with Andreas, Daniel, Dave, Gabriele, Gülçin, Jean-Paul, Julien, and Magnus. Thanks to all of them.

So, here you go. We need someone new on the board!

PS : Of course, I'll stay a member of PostgreSQL Europe, and will help as much as I can, especially during events (as staff or speaker or whatever ;) ).

As a long standing PostgreSQL user (since Postgres95...) and community member I want to thank you - and your board colleagues - for the continous excellent work!

Having an organization that backs the community is a very valuable argument pro PostgreSQL when suggesting the use of PostgreSQL to customers.

So thanks again and all the best for you future!

Guillaume,

thanks for excellent work. Being a treasurer is definitely not an easy job and neither it is the most publicly recognized job, but extremely important one.

Hi all, but especially Guillaume,

Thank you very much for your work on the board and especially as the treasurer, that's a hell of a job dealing with tax authorities.

I hope to see you at one of the upcoming conferences.

Cheers

Stefanie

I will echo what others have said -- thank you for all your hard work
over the years. Bringing pgeu from close to zero to where it is today
has been no small feat!

Echoed here as well - I've seen our side of the pain of dealing with certain banks and tax authorities, and can't imagine what it's been like for you.

Thank you Guillaume!

All I can say is THANKS - being on the board for this long and being an
integral part of PostgreSQL Europe has been an invaluable service to the
community.

I still remember the first steps towards PostgreSQL Europe starting in
Prato and having a board that has "no" Guillaume Lelarge will take a
while to sink in - again thanks a lot for all you have done and I'm
pretty damn sure you wont be able to escape "some" duties during events ;)
